  • COMPUTER, NETWORK AND INTERNET ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY 4526

    The Board of Education believes that providing access to computers is an integral part of a contemporary education. Within financial limitations, computers, computer networks and the internet will be made available to students, faculty and staff.  The technology resources at the School District (e.g., all networking, hardware and software, the Internet, e-mail, telephone equipment, digital still and video, voice mail, fax machines and supporting telephone lines, and all communication equipment) are provided  to support the educational and administrative activities of the School District and should be used for those purposes. An individual’s use of the School District’s computer resources must be in support of education and research and consistent with the educational objectives of the School District...

    The Board of Education recognizes that computers are a powerful and valuable education and research tool and as such are an important part of the instructional program and that it is critical to exercise appropriate control over computerrecords, including financial, personnel and student information.

    The following rules and regulations implement the Internet Safety Policy adopted by the Board of Education to make safe for children the use of School District computers for access to the Internet and World Wide Web.

  • STUDENT USE OF ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL RECORDING DEVICES

    The Board of Education seeks to maintain a safe and secure environment for students and staff in the Herricks School District. The Board further recognizes that advances in technology and the constantly changing role of technology in our schools should not infringe upon the rights of students or faculty. Use of personal technology during instructional as well as non-instructional times must follow guidelines outlined in the District Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), the District's Code of Conduct and the Dignity for All Students Act.
